Zander Metcalfe takes control of the Slugs in 2023 following two disastrous campaigns. Quite sensibly, he has sacked his entire playing staff from 2022. The acquisition of Iain Swall on a free transfer looks excellent business, as does that of Charlie Birkett, who was instrumental in Yorkshire Forces Championship winning season in 2021. Question marks remain on the depth of Metcalfe’s reserves should injuries hit.
